The Children Are Leaving Home
These baby spiders are the size of a pinhead, barely able to be seen with the naked eye (Do prescription glasses count?) Some are abseiling out, the others have run to the top of the flax leaf.
A silken thread ran between this flax leaf and another and the babies were strung out along it like beads. The camera struggled to pick them up . Most attempts to focus on the tiny babies failed, but I managed to get a couple of shots that were more or less successful.
The main blip had the house behind them and the spiders showed up as a translucent pink. In the extra, is one with the sky as a backdrop and they showed darker, as little silhouettes. It was very hard to decide which one to blip and I chose the pic showing them as pink, as that was more true to their actual colour.
I wonder how long these wee ones will survive in the big world. They would be a tasty meal for many birds.
Thanks goes to Riwaka7 for taking on the role of host to tiny Tuesday this month.
