A surprise memorial.
We enjoyed a quick tour of Madrid this morning which included a stop at the Madrid bull ring. Thankfully no one was torturing bulls whilst we were there, although there is bull fighting this evening.
What surprised me most was this memorial to Alexander Fleming erected by the bull fighters. Apparently in the past most deaths of bull fighters did not occur immediately in the ring but later when the wounded died of infections. Hence a memorial to the discoverer of penicillin.
