Suffolk Roadtrip Day 1!
Kessingland Beach, Suffolk
A very early start and on the road by 5.45 am to avoid the bank holiday traffic (M’s Citroen HY Van only averages 35mph). Driving towards Suffolk, the low sun was casting van-shaped shadows on the Fens (extra 1), and by the time we arrived at Earsham Hall in Norfolk for the Bungay Lions Classic Vehicle Rally, the day was already hotting up. And what a stunning day it was, in the mid 20s!
We were at the rally for M to exhibit his Citroen HY Van which he restored and converted into a camper van himself. My first car rally! I was surprised how much I enjoyed it and how quickly the seven hours passed, though I think the beautiful sunshine helped (extras 2-7 show different aspects of the show, including M’s van, and a sneaky selfie!)
After the rally, we trundled our way to the Suffolk coast and pitched camp near Kessingland. From the campsite we had direct access to the beach, via 100 steps! But what a stunning beach, stretching for miles in each direction, and hardly a soul in sight (main photo + extra 8). After a stroll along the beach and a paddle in the North Sea, it was back up those steps and time for supper, and to watch the sun go down... (extras 9 & 10)
(Too many extras again, so many varied colourful sights and happy memories in one day, plus I found it impossible to choose just one. Still not sure which is my favourite... A backblip, back home in the West Country now. Tomorrow is a major blip catchup day when I plan to catch up on all your journals...)
