Changing of the guards

Today is Queen Beatrix her 71st birthday

It was such a lovely day so Jaap and I went out for a walk. We walked through het Haagse Bos, which is one of the oldest remaining forests of the Netherlands.

Surrounded by het Haagse Bos is Huis ten Bosch, or "House in the Woods" in English. It has been home to Queen Beatrix since 1981.

On our walk we spotted some birds, a Great Crested Crebe (Fuut) was a good first alternate for today's blip. The Great Cormorant (Aalscholver) a good second alternate.

Anyway, Jaap and I walked through the forest and came past the backside of Huis ten Bosch, where we noticed people carrying wrapped stuff. Must be presents I think. Then we walked past the front entrance and we arrived just in time to see the changing of the guards ceremony.

It was rather fun to watch, athough less impressive than the changing of the guards in London
