1:1,000,000,000 Scale: Mars

Here's Mars in our scale model of the solar system.  It's 744 feet from the sun; significantly further than the earth.  Which is one reason Mars is a rather cold planet.  Although it probably has liquid water inside, the polar ice caps are frozen carbon dioxide, not water.  A really hot day on the equator in the Martian summer would seem like a cool but tolerable day on earth.
