1:1,000,000,000 Scale: Neptune

Now we really start to get an idea of distance in our scale model of the solar system.  Neptune is a whopping 2.70 miles from the Sun (it really is, in the model).  Remember Mercury was only 190 feet away and the Earth was under 500 feet away.  Also notice how large Neptune is, compared with all the other planets I put up so far.  It's really a noticeable sphere, though not nearly as large as the Sun.  It's appropriately painted blue.
