Turning Avocet Eggs
I was very lucky this morning to get a shot of this Avocet turning over the eggs. Moments later she (or he) settled down again on top of them. There were five nests on a small island luckily not too far from the hide.
This was one of the Morecambe Bay hides which are part of the RSPB Leighton Moss site.
We keep our fingers crossed because in recent years the eggs and chicks have suffered from predation by gulls which are there in large numbers
It was a grand morning and deserves some extras.
1. I call best pals, 2. A Green Veined White I think and 3. A man trying to fly.
