Liberation Day

Sark celebrates their liberation today from the German occupation during WW2. Chelsea Pensioners and Ghurkas came to the island and there was a picnic in the park.
This very poignant entry for May 45 in the lighthouse log documents the inspection of the lighthouse after a five year gap and notes that the coal house had been made into a prison and that it was unsafe to stray from the paths due to land mines and man traps.
