Gallipoli Gardens outside the museum of the Lancashire Fusiliers in Bury boasts these posters. If men were not sufficiently motivated to join up of their own volition, women and children were encouraged to rub in the message.
The Fusiliers' attack on "W" beach in 1915 generated six VCs before breakfast and horrific casualties by the end of the day.
