Filling Up

Filling up with food from a hot dog cart outside the Eaton Centre on Queen Street, Toronto.

A couple of years ago, the city council tried to diversify the food range (which was basically hot dogs, sausages, and chips), but the experiment failed: The carts they designated were too expensive, the sites were not very accessible and food was, well, too healthy. Result: They all went broke. End of experiment.

Which reminds me: A few tears back, I worked in a high rise just down the road from here. One lunch time, I paused at a hot dog stand and was about to buy one when I noticed one of the servers move back a few feet. He glanced around, nonchalantly grabbed a large plastic bottle, pushed it inside his long trench coat, turned his back, and . . .

At which point, I averted my gaze, turned my back and went to a sandwich shop.
