Tada, mailbox reappears as if like magic

A few days ago we noticed someone had pinched the mailbox at Wilson (the most recent house that needs a total renovation. Someone had obviously decided that the house was abandoned and decided to have it away with the mailbox.

A couple of days later, the neighbors, who had never had a mailbox suddenly had a 'new' mailbox! What a coincidence. We had a quick look and yup, although it had been painted black, it was our green mailbox. They had done a really bad paint job.

Post Office was informed, who informed the Sheriffs department, but unless we had marked the mailbox with something, it was our word against the thief's. We were 'shit out of luck' so the saying goes.

The rest of the neighbours were not impressed though, and apparently last night, one marched over to the thief's house and gave him an earful. Apparently this mailbox was well known and had friends in the neighbourhood.

So this morning, I find it sitting in the bush in the front garden of Wilson. It's now in my truck.
