Sex stripped down to the basics

The tiny flowers of the spurge plant are only 3-4 mm in size, and contain just the essential parts needed for sexual reproduction. They have no sepals, petals, or other parts typical of most flowers. They are reduced to just the male stamens, the female pistil and colourful glands that produce nectar to attract pollinators.
