Walking Through History
Mum and I had a lovely walk along Culloden Avenue and through Smithton Woods this morning. Highland Council has erected these gates along the Avenue that was once the main approach to the historic Culloden House, and there are stunning sculptures all along the avenue, carved out of some of the once mighty trees that still line the Avenue.
Though Culloden House is a stunning example of arts of Georgian architecture, parts of the House date back to the 16th century when Duncan Forbes built a Jacobean castle there.
As an aside I am very excited to have started National Novel Writing Month and went along to a Write In group at Eden Court for a wee while before I headed to work. 512 words achieved so far but had hoped for over 1600. Hey-ho!
