(Backblip)

In a forest clearing up on the hill between Pitlochry and Strathtay there are three large standing stones with the remains of a fourth among the vegetation.  Until trees were planted in the 1920s around the Clachan an Diridh stones, the extensive views of the nearby mountains and across the Tummel and Tay valleys must have been impressive. Perhaps if we had been there many years ago on May Day we might have seen processions of people walking round in a ‘deiseil’ or clockwise direction. But now the mysterious atmosphere and silence was broken only by the wind blowing in the pines and the sounds of birds.

It seemed strange to see such a low rainbow arc down in the Tay valley near Aberfeldy
