Territorial disputes (or looking for a snack)

A magnificent morning for a walk through part of the RSPB Middleton Lakes Reserve.

Reed warblers building their nests, carrying huge beak full of fluff (impossible to focus as they are in and out of the reeds with amazing speed.)

An elusive cuckoo, making a racket but never being seen.

And a swan was having hassle from terns, before and during his attempt to have a go at the goslings. Mum and dad Canada Goose were having none of it, and finally shepherded the five safely back to the island. it’s not often that I’m on the side of the Canada Geese !

Several butterflies, evasive orange tips, but I got close to a beautiful white and a speckled Wood.

But the battle had to come first in my extras.
