Reredorter

A view from within the undercroft of the Abbot's apartments, through to the drain of the latrine. Also known as the reredorter, I suspect because it was out the back of the dormitory.
The drain used to be flushed out twice a day by the tide, but eventually the land had risen just enough that it was no longer reaching, and an extension was built out over the beach.
Of particular note is how clean and weed-free the steps at the end are, I spent a couple of hours cleaning this afternoon!
