Today's the day ........................... to win an award
John Adams, Carnforth Station Heritage Centre Manager, was in fine form today.
It was mainly to do with the fact that the Centre had achieved a Bronze Award in the recent UK Coach Awards Competition - under the category entitled 'Making Coaches a Better Choice'. It had all started last year, when Carnforth Station had teamed up with nearby Leighton Hall to offer a joint admission and refreshment package on a trial basis across the summer. Twenty-one tours were booked bringing over 600 visitors to the two venues. It was so successful that it has become a permanent offering throughout the year, and bookings already look to be double the number that visited in 2017. The judges thought that this was a good example of two attractions responding to what customers were asking for and working together to make visiting by coach an attractive option for all concerned.
He also had a new hat which he was rather pleased with. So I asked him to pose for me in our specially-made replica of the iconic 'Brief Encounter' carriage window. And as you can see, he obliged .......................
