These Streets Have too Many Names

Back Templehill, otherwise Known as Braden Road.

When I was little (er) there were no houses beyond the first two on the right. There was a back stair access to a house on West Portland Street on the left - and a little
Cottage. then there was a haulage company Murray & Son with a small yard and a workshop.

Next to the yard, was the fire station .. and beyond that I can’t remember. My mate lived in Templehill - and there was an open access not only to their ‘back yard’ but to all
The houses on Templehill.

We wandered up and down this street most nights, most weekends and if we were bored there was plenty to keep us occupied.

One rare night my sister came out with us to discover what kept us busy of an evening. We walked round this corner, probably from hanging around the long gone amusement arcade and reached the first house.

‘This is what we are gonna do’ said my mate - and reached over and chapped the first door and took off at 50 mph up the road with me in hot pursuit, leaving my sister stranded at the door looked stunned and confused...

As the seconds ticked by - the realisation dawned on her and she suddenly took off after us
