Beauty is all around us.

All Souls Day in Blackburn.

I visited Blackburn Cathedral this afternoon.
I set out in beautiful sunshine so it was nice to see the sunlight filtering through the Lantern stained glass above the altar creating a rainbow -like effect, symbolically connecting Heaven and Earth.
The Lantern was a massive community project, paid for by donations from the Blackburn community.
I have collaged some of the photos that encompass aspects of the cathedral I personally find interesting.
The height and spaciousness are key features and ancient and modern architecture combine to suggest worship has been taking place there for many generations. The cathedral is dedicated to Mary the mother of Jesus.
There are some wonderful little side chapels where you can sit and contemplate, pray, or just rest and soak in the peace.
Sometimes there is an organ recital and this can be a very enjoyable experience if that appeals to you.
In the crypt there is a gift shop and a splendid cafe where you can buy scones and coffee or homemade soup.
Blackburn has an excellent shopping Mall and indoor market.
