Redstart
Not the best photo but I managed to grab a very quick shot of a male redstart ,the first I have ever seen.
We went to Loch Garten, managing to avoid the bike race that was happening. Just had to wait behind a small group until we reached the carpark. We did not go to see the Osprey this time as we were tight for time. It’s been interesting watching the goings on on the webcam.Poor EJ the female lost her partner, Odin, last year when he chased off an intruder and never returned. This time a couple of males have made an appearance , mating taking place , an egg laid and not incubated at the time, do they leave their eggs till they have laid them all, it was thought that they did not.Two more eggs and EJ sat and incubated but George, the new male, failed to bring her fish so she eventually had to fish for herself. The eggs have been left for several hours so the chances of them hatching now , sadly, seems unlikely. George, the so and so bought her a fish today which she ignored !
After a tea on the Steam Train we went to a wildlife film show at Boat of Garten.
