i did warn you...

...that I am rubbish at birds.

We went back over to Arne during the best of today's weather but, unfortunately, the tide was not in sync with the sun. So, with nothing on the channels, we looked to the trees and bushes. When a sparrowhawk landed on top of a young pine, I thought I had my shot in the bag, but I was too greedy to get closer and he flew before I was prepared. Another near miss was a beautiful goldcrest but it was too busy to get a clear shot. All in all, we returned from Arne with empty memory cards.

Later this afternoon, despite the showers, I went over to the bird hides on Little Sea at Studland. The day's entry in the sightings book was short and sweet: Otters and Little Grebe. Well, there were neither otters nor grebes this afternoon. In fact, the only thing I saw were some gulls in the middle of the lake and these cormorants roosting on the other side of the lake. They were far too far away to get any detail but I liked the way they were arranged and, in any case, it was the only frame I took all day.

Somewhere along the line, I made the mistake of thinking I wouldn't need a fallback landscape image. It seems I was wrong...
