cyclists in Dorset

This road sign must be a warning that the Wiggle Jurassic Beast Sportive  will tomorrow be once again clogging up our narrow winding lanes.
 
"Sportifs" are not races (which would require police permission and supervision) they are just supposed to be enjoyable rides - in practice many competitors prove to be to highly motivated to win the substantial prizes.  An entry fee of £45 is payable by each rider: this suggests that someone out there is raking in one hell of a lot of money.

So that's the difference between cycle "sportifs" and races.

Note that cyclists can only see part of the sign.  It's the cyclists riding THREE abreast who really frighten me!
