Source to Sea Bike Race

Every year the Source to Sea bike race takes place. This year the race can be done in three stages - 1st stage from St Arnaud to Caters Beach (near Westport) 160km - 2nd stage from Murchison to Carters Beach 100km - or 3rd stage Berlins to Carters Beach 35km.

The cyclists in this photo were coming down the main street in Murchison, having started at St Arnaud at 9am. It was about 10.25am when they passed through here.
Unfortunately the day was wet, windy and very cold, with snow down on the tops of the Lewis Pass. I congratulate these cyclists - they are certainly committed athletes to be riding in these conditions.
