Tick-king's
Katie and I had lunch on the wall in front of Kings College, which is simply stunning in sunny weather. We have no willpower between us so picked up ice creams from the swishest gelateria in town.
I've had a persistent headache for a couple of days, reminiscent of the pain before I went to hospital last year and that has recurred a few times since. It now seems likely that whatever tick-borne thing entered my system hasn't been flushed out completely. Kat, who knows about the medical challenges conservationists often encounter as she did her PhD fieldwork in Central African Republic, said that tick infections are notoriously hard to get rid of.
After work I opted to skip the rounders/frisbee activities organised by someone leaving, and retreat home to get ready for my sister's arrival later that night. We've been planning a trip for her and her boyfriend Matt to visit Cambridge for ever but I am a nightmare to pin down a date with, gallivanting around as I do, and plans get shelved when I have to travel to x, y or z at short notice. After navigating the challenges of the doggy day care overnight service, as neat white flats are not suitable for a quirky Jack Russell/pug cross with some behavioural challenges, they were on their way from Stoke to Cambridge.
