Dunster
D. and R walked from Blue Anchor along the beach, and I caught the Community Bus. Blue Anchor is about 8 miles from the new Hinckly Point Power Station. Its the first new nuclear power station to be built in Uk for over 20 years and will provide low-carbon electricity for around 6 million homes . EDF are keen to keep locals on side and have laid on a free community bus that goes along the coast road ( not currently served by commercial bus route) between Bridgewater and Minehead. The advantage is that I jumped on it to Dunster, met D&R to check Dunster out, before we headed back on the West Coast Railway. ( see extra)
Construction and operation of Hinkley Point C will create 25,000 employment opportunities, up to 1,000 apprenticeships and 64% of the project’s construction value is predicted to go to UK companies. There are currently over 3,100 workers on site.
