Forever changed

This is a photo I took of a watercolor painting I did this past year that was based on a photograph of a favorite New Jersey beach. In a recent news report a local newscaster reported from the destroyed boardwalk of Atlantic City, N.J., showing the beginnings of post-storm cleanup and saying that many of New Jersey's barrier islands have been forever changed by Sandy. Perhaps he is right. Which made me especially glad I painted this picture. One of the greatest things about photographs and paintings is that they stir our memories to recall the places and times we might otherwise forget. Our beaches might be forever changed but never will they be forgotten .
