The Poet

I absolutely loved "I Saw Ramallah" by the Palestinian poet Mourid Barghouti when it was published in English in 2004. It tells of his experiences of  enforced exile. he was studying in Cairo when the 6 Day War broke out and was not allowed to return to his homeland for more than 30 years. Today, he was in Liverpool as part of the Writing on the Wall (WOW) Festival. What a treat!
