Almost done
A busy day of film-making. When we got up L got the rough outline into a workable screenplay that was ready shortly after the team assembled at the flat - including team member six, our friend G. With our given genre of 'Road Movie', previous thoughts of a geographically tight set of locations around the flat were out of the window and we had to plan some more widely dispersed places to shoot. And although we had two cars, because the two drivers were both actors in the film, and therefore had to be in the same car when it came to filming, the logistics were just that little bit more complicated. We headed out to East Lothian, starting in Musselburgh Railway Station car park, then on to a car park at the start of a cycle path past Carberry. A couple of scenes there, getting more familiar with the equipment, before moving on to a roadside location with views down to Edinburgh. With that in the can (or rather, on the card) it was back to Porty for a late lunch and check on the 'rushes'. Also to buy the prop, that had got missed earlier! Refreshed it was back on the road, revisiting the station and the hill top. Lots of problem solving as we all learned about the film-making process first hand. Finally it was back to Porty - some B-Roll getting out the car at the bottom of Kings Road before going back to the flat again to see what we had from the afternoon. We had a bit of a break before heading down to the 'cake stand' to film the final scene of the film. but not the last of the filming as we had one more scene to do - a night time conversation in the car, filmed through the windscreen and lit by a phone light inside the car. All done before eleven and the actors could go. L and I stayed up to make a start on the edit process - more thinking it through than doing any cutting up of clips.
