At The Tower

After a nice morning with Emma we went to Tower Pier, by the Tower of London, to catch a boat for a trip on the river. This trip, a Christmas present, included afternoon tea. The boat was very comfortable, the tea excellent and the service very good. A great afternoon.

During the cruise we past the Mayflower, the oldest pub on the Thames, named after the boat that took the Pilgrim Fathers to the New World in 1620 (apparently it moored here to escape docking taxes in the main port of London). This Rotherhithe pub was one of my regular haunts about fifty years ago when I lived in London. Nice memories!

On return Ann and I went for a coffee whilst Emma walked her doggy, then we met up for a drink at The White Cross on the banks of the Thames at Richmond.
