Walking Wombat

All by myself!

You had to laugh at this little character. The crimson rosella is sitting in a pot of grasses and it thinks I can’t see it. It was pretty easy to get a shot of it because it sat there for absolutely ages. Not a bit worried about a wombat with a camera trying to get it’s best side!! They really do love the water and I’m hoping it will rain really soon so that our water tank will be topped up again.

I have added a couple of extras today that were taken way back in 1977 when I was in England playing squash as a professional. I had the good fortune to have this birds eye view of the royal carriage as it came down the Strand. It’s a long and convoluted story as to how I managed to secure such a wonderful possie but to suffice to say it was like winning the lottery. I showed a series of images from this day at our Photo Group this morning. I was driven to do so after watching every minute of the Royal Wedding on Saturday night. I witnessed the entire Royal Family pass by on their way to St Paul’s Cathedral for the Queens Jubilee church service. I had only arrived in England a few months earlier and couldn’t believe my eyes. I still feel the emotion of the day as I type.

The excitement is building at Wombat Hollow as CCN’s son Sid will be travelling up from Melbourne tomorrow to spend a couple of nights with us. I believe he didn’t want to miss the spectacle of a resident wombat reaching a major milestone!! We can’t wait to see him :)
