Wee Peem is upside down
10.3C Dull start under thin grey cloud. Brightened later. Calm.
Maeve the Deerhound and I listened to the first half of "Off the Ball" on Radio Scotland before we went for our walk. Up by the church the road was very slippy with mud from the fields again. There could so easily be an accident where the road narrows by the church. Perhaps it is just as well the church service will be in the newer of the two Panbride churches (the one that is closer to the shore) tomorrow.
In the field Maeve and I walked along close to the bridle path, but it was a bit drier today and there wasn't as much water on the surface. The thin cloud was making everything look very quiet and the sea looked completely calm. We enjoyed looking at the sea as we walked towards the shore and could see 'Valhalla VI' moored at the furthest channel marker post like she had been for most of the summer.
The tide was a further out than yesterday and most of the rocks were visible. Plenty of wet hard sand to walk along and look for Sea Glass. Beach empty at the side we approached the Fishermen's huts from but there were one or two people visible towards Carnoustie.
When we got to the place where we often wander up through the thin line of dunes to the huts we could see that all of the wood we had seen on the edge of the beach yesterday was gone. The dune grasses looked untouched but there was a tell tale line of dark charred wood, lots of footprints, and the remains of some fireworks on the sand. Looks like the bonfire was built on the beach and the tide will do the work of tidying away the last of the remnants. I am very glad it was done safely and no damage was done to the dune system.
I also noticed that 'Wee Peem' (a rowing dingy) was lying upside down in its usual spot near the big creel rack. In her role as Photographers Assistant Maeve was soon sniffing about the bottom of the boat finding colourful spots where the blue hull has been scraped. I was able to brush away the loose sand with my hand and get some pictures :-)
Before we left the beach and headed home we went down to the water's edge and got a shot or two of 'Valhalla VI'.
Earlier, in a return to our happy and lazy routine Saturday's, Maeve had a croissant corner and there was a pink iced Empire Biscuit. Later there will be a chocolate snowball ... oh yes there will :-)
