Kinclaven Wood
I've been a member of the Woodland Trust for many years but had never got around to actually visiting any of their woods so when the Trust invited members to go on a guided walk through Kinclaven bluebell wood near Meikleour in Perthshire it seemed like too good an opportunity to miss. What a stunningly beautiful place - the bluebell drifts as far as the eye could see, wafts of scent on the breeze and hundred year old trees seemed to float in blue lakes.... magical. The extra is a pair of quite magnificent "bunched beeches" . Apparently the Victorians were fond of planting a bunch of beech saplings into one hole which fuse together as they grow producing one massively thick trunk and multiple branches.
