Into the Canyon

Yesterday on our hike to Pine Creek Canyon, we met another hiker who told us that so many cacti were in bloom at First Creek and he recommended we go there.  We got up very early this morning to head over to First Creek, but I guess I didn't have the appropriate desert expectations because I was quite disappointed to find nothing much different than we had seen the day before.  Perhaps I was expecting some kind of "botanical garden" experience, which of course was totally unrealistic.  

It was overcast, and perfect temperatures for hiking but we didn't do the entire hike ( more of a walk than a hike)  because we had to get back to pack and head to the airport.  This is the very easy trail at First Creek.  It would be about 2 miles to get back to the Red Rock mountains.
