Looking up

This building has always fascinated me and I pass it so often on my way to lectures. Although Northumberland Street is now the main commercial street in Newcastle and is lined with all the big stores, it used to be the main route into Northumberland (surprise!) and had mainly residential buildings along it. There must have been some rather smart houses and I sometimes wonder whether the bits above the shops date from that time. I will do a bit of research on it. 

Astonishing impact the Pennines have on the weather. In the North East it has been dull, slightly damp, windy and cold. As soon as we drove back over the Pennines, it was sunny and it is now a beautiful evening here.
