Plean House
As the weather was so nice and I'd finished my essay marking (hooray!) we thought we'd make the most of it and went for a short walk in Plean Country Park, which is a short drive south of Stirling. The land used to be owned by British Coal and was neglected for years before being handed to Stirling Council in the 1980s. It now has paths and is used for horseriding as well as gentle walks. We were going to come here last week with the inlaws but the weather wasn't so good, but we definitely agreed that as the walks are so gentle and not far, they are very suitable for visiting dignatories parents.
In the park is the now derelict Plean House. The last resident (the son of the last owner) left in 1973 after he became too elderly to live there alone, and shortly after the house was apparently set on fire by vandals, and has been derelict ever since.
