Bug on a Rose

A slow re-entry day. You know: laundry, stray socks, all sorts of detritus from a car trip. Plus I went to the doctor because of this terrible cough; an xray says it’s not pneumonia, so we’re calling it bronchitis. Couple of meds to take, get good rest, eat well. Local weather doesn’t promote getting much fresh air—cold and super windy. Bundle up for winter tomorrow and go for a little walk.


Found this beetle on one of the roses—this is his farewell portrait. I havent seen such a big thing on the roses before; usually it’s nasty little curculios with their pointy snouts, but this one looks like it could do a fair amount of damage pretty quickly.
