Changing the Guard
It's fun treating a place you know well and visit often as though you are a tourist. After a good night's sleep in the cupboard (see yesterday's Blip) W had an early start to get down to Dulwich College to take her second exam. We'd planned to stay in London afterwards and bought cheap advance train tickets that restricted us to a train home at 4.15, so after her exam we met up late morning at Victoria Station and set off for a walk. We headed off towards Buckingham Palace and as we approached it was clear something was going on; of course, it was the changing of the guard, and we'd timed it perfectly! Afterwards we walked down through St James's Park and Pall Mall towards Trafalgar Square but clearly there was an 'incident' of some sort as the whole area was closed and some very loud and stressed Police were 'encouraging' people to clear the area as quickly as possible. More walking, another very nice late lunch in a pub I know near Bond Street, and after a couple of retail stops it was time for the train home. According to my phone, we walked seven miles; my knees say it was further.
Just a quickly grabbed phone shot over the heads of all the other tourists today!
