with the ends of worms, and a oozy smell
The museum of anatomical specimens at the museum is like a compacted version of what the animal halls in the National Museum in Chambers Street used to be like, before the cleansing and redesign. There were lots of nice dusty jumbled stuffed beasts and things in jars, which were well worth the bus journey to encounter. We wandered off round the wee botanics, then into the larger park to the north, where we found a perfectly habitable tree-root hole on the long way round to the playpark. Fortunately, the café I was aiming for on the way back to find a citywards bus turned out to be very good.
