STARLING (Sturnus vulgaris)
Another Garden bird day today as the day-time tide is a very high one throughout most of the day. The wading birds are having a bit of time off at the Estuary during most of the daylight hours especialy with a big high tide - it must be at least a 2.4m. I think this is a juvenile Starling in view of its behaviour. I dont know much about starlings other than they were introduced from europe in the 1860's. The NZ immigrants were lonely for their home environment so they bought everything with them - more's the pity as we are now finding out!!
