Not Bluebells

Blue or Purple Tansy ( Phacelia tanacetifolia). Originally from south west USA. Now used, as here, as a crop which attracts bees and many other beneficial insects.

This field is part of the Sutton Hoo estate. Sutton Hoo is the site of very famous 6th.C and early 7th.C Anglo Saxon cemeteries. One of the many burial mounds contained a whole boat and the whole site was very rich in jewelry and weapons. It was all passed to the British Museum.

We spent several hours on the site which is very well run by the National Trust. There are first class exhibitions and several good walks. Also a good NT restaurant. A lovely day.
This brings to an end our lovely week in Suffolk. Light rain is just beginning, the first since we arrived. A long drive to Cumbria tomorrow with much rain and heavy Bank Holiday traffic.
