Over the water

After a quick drive down to Portsmouth this morning we boarded the car ferry for Fishbourne, on the Isle of Wight. Here's the Spinnaker Tower at Portsmouth - must go up there someday! A ferry was coming in as we were leaving. 

After a smooth and sunny crossing we took our time driving down to our B&B in Ventnor, stopping off at Arreton en route for lunch and exploring the beautiful old church. 

We've stayed at the B&B before - they have a lovely house and a steep, south-facing garden with many beautiful tender and unusual plants. While we were sitting at the open door of the conservatory with a cup of tea we were entertained by a pair of Podarcus muralis, common wall lizards, debatably native, who were sunning themselves on the step. The extra is the best I could do with my zoom lens.
