Spey picnic

Louisa was just laying down the blanket. We had been on the riverbank for less than a minute when we heard a splash. Turning round we saw Finlay in the water!

Up to his chest he shouted to calm us "I'm alright, I'm alright"! He was climbing along an over hanging branch when it gave way.

A parent's instinct, I had already checked the depth of water along this particular stretch and had noted it as 1 foot. Finlay was in fact on his backside!

Fortunately we had spare coats. He stripped off to his vest, wrapped a blanket around his waist and put on 2 coats. Gloves as socks.

The inevitable jokes about 'Highland Emergency' followed! Finlay is in fact recovering from a cold, so it was the last thing we had envisaged for a gentle river lunch!!
