Lizard

This attractive little lizard with bright blue belly and throat was at the Mississippi Sandhill Crane Centre in Mississippi state. The reserve supports the entire breeding population of this non-migratory subspecies of sandhill crane. We didn't see any cranes because they are all out in the closed-off breeding grounds, but we enjoyed walking the C L Dees trail through open pine forest, with an incredible array of wild flowers including lots of pitcherplants.
