Petal lines

I was given flowers earlier this week, by someone I had been helping to sort out their report.  This is one of the flowers, and it struck me that the lines in the petals were interesting. I wonder if they are designed to flag the stamen, and therefore pollen, to insects? 

Today I have been taking things easy. Food shopping, bit of tidying up, bit of gardening, bit of cooking. I have a new recipe book. The recipes are all very healthy, but my teenagers are not impressed. Healthy food appears to be something which appeals later in life...
