Fingerpickers on the loose!

Tommy Emmanuel with Frank Vignola at the Union Chapel in Islington.

Tommy is an old Australian rocker come good. He was captivated by the fingerpicking techniques of Chet Atkins and Merle Travis which he now puts to work in an incredible show of manual dexterity. Most of the show is just him and his guitar, on which he plays the whole band. No electronic trickery ... just fingers working independently to pick out the bass, rhythm and melody all at the same time - even a bit of percussion too (but he can leave that bit out as far as I am concerned).

Genius stuff - and quite an inspiration for an old amateur who has just picked his guitar up again. Thanks to Tommy and Justin Sandercoe I feel like they are close friends as they take me through their expert tutorials.
