Snow Monkey
We thought we would get an early start and head over to the Central Park Zoo before it got too crowded. We packed up snacks, drinks, lunch and all the other things needed by a 16-month-old and made our way over, somewhat blindsided by how hot and humid it was. It took us about an hour to walk the 2 miles or so because the paths in the park wind around and I am sure we didn’t take the most direct route.
The zoo was quite crowded but not intolerable. It is a small zoo so it didn’t take us long to see everything, which was good because it felt like midsummer on Guam. I don’t know how the Snow Monkeys could tolerate the heat, because it did a number on me. I have not seen Snow Monkeys before so was pleased to get this shot since they didn’t stay out in the open very long. Who could blame them? It's better in Large.
We had some lunch and then started the long walk back. Buskers were entertaining throughout the park so we stopped to enjoy the music several times. Our little one was quite taken with the various Saxophone players we encountered and one of them was quite taken with her and played all kinds of children’s songs for her. I had never heard Twinkle Twinkle Little Star and Mary Had a Little Lamb played on the sax before. It was actually quite nice.
We arrived home quite wiped out. Nana and Grandpa were ready for a nap but the little one was not, so no one had one. She finally fell apart about 5:30 when we quickly fed her, bathed her and popped her into bed. She was asleep minutes.
