Communications tower

These things proliferate around the hills, but can serve a useful purpose when. the sun needs a little attenuation.  It was a brief appearance, but the sun lit the rocks and tussocks beautifully.  (Sorry, can't show you that here today, but maybe I'll put one on Flickr).
