The Cabela's Adventure
Dual dental appointments in the valley (Willamette Valley, that is) brought Paul and I to Eugene on Friday (back blipping still). Before coming home, we went on the Cabela's adventure! Just walking through the store is fun. They make retailing an art form. It's odd to be in a store where the focus is on men more than it is on women. The shoe & boot department for men is three times as large as the one for women. Now I see why men get bored in stores that target women as their primary customers. But, Cabela's is anything but boring!
While Paul waited on the shoe sales person to bring out boots for him to try on, I wandered over to the women's dept. Sitting on the edge of it, was a man in a suit, wearing a tie, but trying on hunting boots. I smiled and asked him if he was getting a little escape during his work day. He said that he would be leaving town in a couple hours to go elk hunting (I think it was elk..) and he needed some boots, so this was efficiency for him today. He laughed about how much multi tasking he had to do to pull it off!
When we returned to town, for date night, we drove to Bandon to watch a live production of a children's version of "Sherlock Holmes". One of our young friends was in the production and had developed quite a good character as the flower peddler.
