Drove down to Melrose for our first walk of the year, over the Eildon hills. The route guide said it was 9 miles and to allow 4 hours but it turned out to be 12 miles and took us 5 hours. And that was without us getting lost (though the trail markers would disappear occasionally due mostly to recent logging work). Deer, pygmy shrew, hare, eagle, hawk, horse, pony, bullock, lamb and wabbit of course. Great weather too and fantastic views.
The gorse was turning swathes of the hillsides a golden yellow. Never mind the bonnie, bloomin' heather - the gorse in full bloom is hard to beat.
Drove home through the haar, a bit strange that it had blown that far inland but the double espresso I'd had after dinner (and the cube of fudge) fairly kept me sharp!
