Cows heading up to the pasture

Around this time of year the cows start their journey to higher pastures after the long winter either inside barns or down in the valley. We were lucky enough to be home this morning when the local farmer brought his cows up the steep road where we live.

The cows wear bells on the high pastures but not the bell you see here. These bells are only used when moving up and down to the pastures and are usually decorated with names and family coat of arms. They also have headdresses of flowers (difficult to see here).
